Mixed reaction in Tipperary to Budget 2008.

E-mail Print PDF
The additional funding allocated to health services, and particularly services for older people announced in the Budget, has been welcomed by North Tipp Minister Maire Hoctor.

In particular she has pointed to the €135m for Older People and €50m for services for people with disabilities.

The Minister with responsibility for older people says the focus in this Budget has been to ensure continued improvements in the key area of community and home-based services.

Maire Hoctor says these developments are essential to supporting older people to live in their own homes and communities for as long as possible.

However North Tipperary Fine Gael Deputy Noel Coonan described the €12 increase to state pensioners as being out of touch with reality.

He says it falls far short of what is required to meet the cost of living.
