Congratulations to Sean Bermingham who has been selected on the south Tipperary under 21 soccer team following a series of trials. Sean is the first player from the Mullinahone club to receive this honour. He will become part of an emerging talent programme where the players receive expert coaching to develop soccer skills.

The squad will commence training shortly in preparation for a National Inter League Competition. Sean has already represented Tipperary in Gaelic Football and played against Limerick earlier this year in the primary school games. It is a great honour for a small club like Mullinahone to have a player chosen in this elite group as the majority of the team came form the soccer strongholds of Clonmel, Thurles and Tipperary town.

Mullinahone have a very important game at the weekend as they take on Vee Rovers at home in their final group game. A win would almost guarantee Mullinahone second place after the first series of games.

The local under twelve team continued their good run at the weekend in the Tipperary schoolboys league.

Mullinahone took the lead early in the first half when Seam Bermingham scored direct from a corner kick. This keeps up a remarkable scoring record – in four games Sean has scored five goals, four of them coming direct from corner kicks.

In the second half, Cahir bombarded the Mullinahone defence but the lads kept a much bigger and stronger team at bay until close to the end.

Cahir equalised from the penalty spot with minutes remaining to leave the final score 1-1.

It was once again a great team performance and the result guarantees second place in the league just behind Clonmel town.

The team: Jan Kutay, Joey Noonan, Graham Horan, Sean Bermingham, Darren Boland, Tommy Hayes, Ciaran Mockler, Michael Dunne, Aidan Buckley, Darragh Wilson, Cathal O Mahoney, Conor Maher, Corey Padgett Trudgill, Joe Hogan, Brian Kenny, Cameron Moynihan, Jack Hennessy, Aidan Ward, Yam Zur, James Lahart.

It would be nice to see a few more supporters turn up at the games to watch this bunch of committed and skilful players in action.

They play with and for each other and take great pride in representing the club. The enthusiasm of those unlucky no to be picked is also worth commending as these lads turn up week after week waiting a chance to shine.

Last week their opportunity came and many of the younger members of the squad rose to the occasion in a thrilling 4-4 draw with Moyglass. Among those delighted to make their full appearance of the season were Aidan Ward, Yam Zur, Paul Luttrell and James Lahart.

"And I wouldn't much care for Sierra Leone, If I hadn't seen Killenaule
And the man that was never in Mullinahone,
Shouldn't say he had travelled at all."
