Sympathy

E-mail Print PDF

The death took place recently of Davy O Brien of Carrick Road. Davy as a character and without doubt one of the best known people in the parish. Not only was he well known in Mullinahone but he was equally known in the surrounding parishes.

At the time of death, Davy was only in his very early seventies. His death took place in South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel. Davy was known far and wide as an excellent mechanic. He loved engines especially those of an older vintage. During his lifetime, he built up the Mullinahone Threshing Museum and was involved with the Annual Vintage Tractor Run around the foothills of Slievenamon. This project helped to raise finance each year for the Camphill Community in Grangemockler.

Always on for surprises, Davy had on last surprise up his sleeve. He donated his body for medical research. His funeral mass which took place in St. Michael’s Church, Mullinahone was crowded. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Breen P.P Ballingarry, who referred to Davy’s work on behalf of Camphill Community.

During the mass prayers were also offered for Davy’s daughter Statia O Brien and his brother Ned O Brien, both of whom pre-deceased him. We extend our sympathy both to his family and his friends.

May his soul rest in peace.
