Junior B Hurling

Our junior hurlers played their first game of the championship against Ballybacon last Thursday in Ned Hall Park. Our junior team has a mix of the young and the experienced and has a strong emphasis on enjoying their hurling. It’s great to see twenty four of a panel available for games.

Mullinahone started strongly and went into an early lead. With a good supply of ball to the forwards they were availing of their many scoring opportunities. The half time score read 2-12 to Ballybacon 1-6. The second half saw Mullinahone add some fine scores with some great team work and saw a very committed performance from all the panel used.

The full time score read Mullinahone 3-20, Ballybacon 1-6. The score did not reflect the efforts of Ballybacon throughout the game as the team work of Mullinahone on the night proved to the difference.

The panel on the night was: A Walsh, C Hogan, S. O Meara, A. Lonergan, N O Shea, Ed O Brien (Capt.) D Croke, J Maher, N O Brien, N Cronin, J Maher, M O Brien, M Hicks, M Luttrell, A Doheny, T McNamara, N Mullally, C O Shea, R Cahill.

Senior Hurling

Our seniors played their second game of the championship against Killenaule last Saturday in Fethard. With Killenaule missing players with injury this was an opportunity to add two more points to our league table. Killenaule led the scoring in the first half and little separated the teams at half time.

Mullinahone got the dream start in the second half with Pat Croke gaoling twice to open up a five point lead. You’d expect us to drive on and win but it was Killenaule who upped the tempo to win by a point. Mullinahone now go into next weekend looking for a win against Swans who seem to be getting stronger as the championship progresses.

As for ourselves we certainly need to up a gear to maintain our interest in the current championship. We certainly have the quality and I have no doubt when these players are asked they will respond. Best of luck lads on Sunday.
