Saturday, October 3rd was a great day in the life of local young lady Sinead Scott of Bawnavrona. In the cosy confines of Our Lady’s Church, Coolagh, Co. Kilkenny, Sinead was wed. Sinead is the eldest daughter of Michael and Margaret Scott. Her groom was Robert Pennefather from Shannon, Co. Clare. Robert is the eldest son of Kingsmill and Teresa Pennefather. The wedding Mass was celebtrated by Fr. John McGrath P.P. Mullinahone. Bridesmaid was Michelle Scott (sister of the bride) while Niall Quinn a friend of the groom was his bestman. The duties of page boy and ring bearer were performed by Morgan Scott while Abbie Pennefather was a delightful flower girl. In time honoured tradition the bride was given away by her father Michael. The readers at the Mass were Murt Pennefather and Louise Scott.
The responsorial psalm was sung by Noelle Morrissey accompanied by John Joe Farrell. The offertory gifts were presented at the altar by Margaret Scott (mother of the bride) and Teresa Pennefather (mother of the groom). The Mass was served by Grainne Walsh who had been cared for by the bride for six years. The prayers of the faithful were recited by Barry Pennefather (brother of the groom), Timmy Darcy (friend of the groom), Cliona Walsh (family friend of the bride), Nicole Scott, (sister of the bride), Ciara Brett (cousin of the bride) and Gemma Scott (sister of the bride).
After the church ceremony a reception for family and friends was held in Raheen House, Clonmel which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Sinead and Robert spent their honeymoon in New York. The Pennefathers are now back living in Mullinahone in Cois na hAbhainn to whom we wish a lifetime of happiness together.
Lotto
The last draw took place on Mon. October 19th. Numbers were 1, 13, 17 and 23. We didn’t have a jackpot winner. In fact we didn’t even have a match 3 winner but the committee held a special lucky dip draw, among all those who had entered for the match 3 prize of 150 euro. The lucky dip winners were John McGrath, Josephine Nye, Debra Ivans, Eleanor Quirke and C.A.C. (not a branch of NAMA).
Congratulations to all. Next draw on Monday night next, November 3rd when the jackpot would be worth 2,850 euro.
Thank You All
A year ago on a night out in Kilkenny, Richard Quirke suffered an injury which has changed completely the lives of both himself and his family during the year gone by. Now Richard and his family wish to thank all the kind people who have walked the last difficult year with them. As a mark of their gratitude they invite you to a Mass of Thanksgiving in St. Michael’s Church, Mullinahone on this Thursday, October 29th at 7.30 p.m. and afterwards to tea and refreshments in the G.A.A. Sports Hall. Your outpouring of warmth and bonding kept the family going through the early months when RIchard was on the life support machine. The fund raising was generous beyond words and it assured the family that they were not on their own.
Soccer Club
Soccer Club The local soccer club would like to thank all those who supported their recent table quiz. Thank you also to those local shops who donated quiz and raffle prizes. Further thanks to Paddy Hickey who set and asked the questions and to Kevin Keating who corrected them. Broadband Ahoy
There are indications that broadband is about to come to Mullinahone much sooner than some protest groups would have to believe.
