TIDY TOWNS

E-mail Print

The tidy towns committee would like to thank Mullinahone Bridge Club who recently ran a successful fund raiser in support of tidy towns. This support was much appreciated. We would also like to thank all who took part in the recent cleanup which extended to the whole parish. Schools continue to do great work in this area. Thanks also to the local GAA club who facilitated the clean-up collection etc. Tidy towns application will be submitted by May 23, so now is the time to paint and to plant. Everybody can do a little to brighten up our village.
COMMUNITY PARK

Park

The new Community Park on the Ballingarry road is virtually complete. All that remains now is to dot a few is and cross a few ts. The new Community Park is a credit to all concerned and will be a great amenity to the whole community.
NOT SO GOOD

GAA

The recent turnout and display of our senior football team was disappointing. It was not the way many old supporters would have liked to remember the 100th Anniversary of us retaining the County senior football title of 1913. For the record on Friday night we lost to Kilsheelan 1-14 to 0-05.

U16B COUNTY CHAMPIONS

The month of May began well for our lady footballers. On Friday last in Boherlahan they defeated Cappawhite 5-10 to 2-05 to become Tipperary U16B ladies football champions. Last year the same u16s, or six of them, were part of the team which won the U16C county title. Cappawhite didn’t take their first half chances having 13 wides. Mullinahone led 2-01 to 0-04 at the break. Cappa began the second half well scoring 1-01 to put them into the lead. The local mentors took corrective action and Mullinahone began to dominate again on the field and on the scoreboard leaving Cappa to get a consolation goal near the end. Final score Mullinahone 5-10, Cappawhite 2-05. Mullinahone: Nicola O’Dwyer, Meibh Maher, Aine Dunne, Shauna Kennedy, Alice Browning (3-03), Nicole Shelly (C), Eimear Horan, Aoife Skelly, Jane Walker, Grainne Horan, Caoimhe O’Shea, Aoibhe O’Shea (1-03) Michaela Moloney, Valentena Kavanagh (0-03) Kate White. Subs: Tara Gayson (1-00), Gemma Dunne. Mentors: Ann Marie McGuire and Noreen Horan.

NEW BEGINNING

E-mail Print

Mullinahone CJ Kickhams have made a major effort to recruit a new management team for senior football in the club. An experienced group has been put together. All three are former Mullinahone footballers and hurlers and two out the three have even represented Tipperary in football - Michael Hearne, Dick Egan and Jackie Bolger. Michael and Dick have represented Tipperary footballers while Jackie managed our football team which reached the Munster Intermediate final some years ago. Loyalty to our club should be our first consideration. After all, we have managed to survive through many crises since 1885.
