5 Mile Heart Walk

E-mail Print PDF

The second Annual Heart Foundation Walk took place around the parish on Saturday morning last. Weather for walking was absolutely wonderful. Unfortunately the turn -out of walkers was disappointing. The route chosen started in the GAA Car Park, then down the street and out by the Rocks Road to Ballylanigan Cross. From there it was back over to Pollards Cross and into the village and the GAA field. All the walkers completed the 5 mile walk in fine fettle. The Heart Foundation thanks all those who organised the walk or who took part in it or subscribed and looks forward to seeing more people next year.

Referenda

All eligible voters are encouraged to vote in the two Referenda on Friday.

Hard Luck Lorraine

Hard luck to Lorraine O’Shea who was wing forward on the Tipp Ladies Football team who failed narrowly in the All-Ireland final in Croke Park on Sunday. Watching on TG4 Lorraine played well trying very hard and taking a couple of hard knocks. Lorraine’s mother was a selector on the team. Well done to both on getting so far and better luck next year.

U-12 Hurlers

On Sat. our U-12 hurlers played Kilsheelan in the semi-final of the South Tipp championship. Kilsheelan started well and got into a 2-03 to 0-00 lead. We fought back and drew level half way through the 2nd half. However, Kilsheelan rallied and scored 2 goals in the last quarter to run out winners. We wish them luck in the final. Our panel was Steven Hickey, Sasha Kavanagh, Jack Lonergan, Daire O’Brien, David Gunn, Cillian White, Matthew Thompson, Michael O’Shea, Eanna Ryan, Nicola O’Dwyer, Cathal Brett, Kyle McNamara, Eoghan O’Brien and Emma Cody. Well done to the panel and to their trainers Niall Curran and Micheál Cahill.

Community Alert update

The local group are still waiting for permission from South Tipperary Co. Council to erect notice poles in the parish. They are also awaiting dedicated text alert phone numbers from An Garda Siochána, so very little progress to report of late. The local committee have no control over the matters mentioned.

"And I wouldn't much care for Sierra Leone, If I hadn't seen Killenaule
And the man that was never in Mullinahone,
Shouldn't say he had travelled at all."
