Rainfall records began to be kept in Mullinahone in 1980. Since then, 33 years 1981-2013 have come and gone. Despite the storms and heavy rainfall of the 2d half of December, 2013 turned out to be the driest year yet recorded locally. During 2013, 777.2mm of rain fell on 194 days. Since 1980 yearly rainfall has been below 800mm only twice. In 2003 it was 794.1mm and in 2001 it was 780.4mm. The average yearly rainfall has been in the region of 900mm or 36 inches over the last 33 years.
