South Tipp U13 Soccer Champions

Last weekend saw Mullinahone schoolboys crowned South Tipperary U13 champions for the 2014/2015 season with a game to spare. Having played 11 of their 12 games Mullinahone had won nine  and drawn two of these games, so they now have an unassailable lead in the league over their closest challengers, Burncourt/Vee Rovers whom they play in their final game. The team have also qualified for the Cup Final  against St. Kevins. They now have a chance to complete the double. The team is sponsored by Crocanóir. Many of the players were also members of the Mullinahone N.S. team which got to the county schools finals playoff during the week.  The clubs U15 team sponsored by Lonergans Gala have also qualified for their Cup final against Clonmel Celtic. The lads were a goal down with only five minutes to go in the semi-final, but equalised to send the game to extra time which brought no further score. In the penalty shoot out, Mullinahone won by 3-1. We wish both sides well in their finals. The successes of the schoolboys are a good omen for the reformed junior club which hasn’t been active for quite a number of years.

Ten Day Mega Clean-up

The 10 day mega parish clean-up is now in its second week. The first weekend seems to have been more successful than the second. Hopefully, the local authority will get around to disposing of the accumulated rubbish in the GAA carpark as soon as possible.

Local Lotto Jackpot

The last local lotto jackpot draw took place on Monday last April 20th. The numbers drawn were 4, 26,27and 28. We didn’t have a jackpot winner, but the following shared the Match 3 Prize of €150. Jo Keating, Sarah and Albert, Eddie Dwyer, Gerry O’Meara and Jack McCarthy. Congrats to all. The next draw will take place on Tuesday May 4th when the jackpot could be worth €11,800. To win, you must first be in.

A Welcome Win

After their fine win over Toomevara in their first game, Mullinahone lined out against great rivals, Ballingarry, in their second game in the hurling championship in Clonmel on Sunday evening. The result was a 3-15 to 0-07 win for Mullinahone. Our lads began slowly, but improved as the game went on and were well on top during the second half. Once again, even after their good opening win against Toome, the turnout of local supporters was on the small side. It now looks as if Mullinahone will win out their section and advance in the championship. Their remaining game in the section will be against Boherlahan. Well done to the lads and to their management team. Best of luck to the Tipp U21 footballers who will play Tyrone in Dublin in the All Ireland final on Sat.next. We encourage our supporters to travel.

U12 Football

Our U12 footballers are out of the championship, but will now take part in a Shield competition. The panel who represented us in the championship games was Che Delaney-Scott, Joanne Hickey, Colin Kinnane, Conor O’Brien, Sean O’Dwyer, Josh Rowan, Daniel Vaughan, Dylan Webster, James Cody, Patrick Hayes, Lee McGuire, Eoin O’Dwyer, Jaedan Paget-Trudgill, Jack Sheehan, Luke Vaughan, Diarmuid White and Chloe Gunn. The team mentors are Ray Cody, Eamonn O’Dwyer and Paul White. Best of luck in the Shield.

Ladies Football

Congrats to Marion Gillman and Lorraine O’Shea. Marion representing St. Michael’s NS was selected for the Tipperary girls Primary Game team. Lorraine was chosen at centre field on the Higher Education All-Stars team and received her award at a function in Dublin last weekend. Well done to both. Wishing all the best to Áine Dunne, Aoibhe O’Shea and Nicole Shelly and the Tipp Minor team who play Cork in the Munster A final on Monday 5th May at a home venue. Good luck also to Nicola O’Dwyer and the Tipp U14 team who will play Waterford in the Munster B final on May 7th.
