Heart Foundation Collection
The Heart Foundation will hold a Church gate collection before all Masses in Mullinahone this coming weekend. Mass times Saturday 8pm, Sunday 9.30am and 11.30am. Your support would be appreciated.
Concern is being felt in some quarters regarding the future of our Community Centre. The Centre is being managed by Mullinahone Community Council. Local Solas worker, Tony Wall is doing a fine job of keeping the centre in first class trim, but turnout at Community Council meetings has been rather poor with little more than the officers present.
All local groups with a parish interest should be attending community meetings as the future of our Hall is important to all, especially such as the local playschool, bridge club, retired people’s club etc. It is planned to hold a wake-up meeting of the council in the very near future. Please make plans to attend.
Our local soccer club which has being going so well in the Shield hit a pothole on Sunday last when they lost 1-0 to a good Burncourt side in their first league game of the season. This game was played before a good crowd in Mullinahone. Despite the result, it wasn’t all bad news for Mullinahone, as team captain, Jamie McGrath, who had been out through injury made a welcome return.
The Lazlett brothers and James Hindley threatened, but found the Burncourt goalie in superb form. Kevin Walzer came on for the second half for his first game, and he will be a decided addition. Though Burncourt left Mullinahone with the three points, the home side have a lot to look forward to, following a wholehearted display.
Anniversary Masses Saturday 12th September at 8pm James and Statia Maher, Newlands, Sunday 13th September at 11.30am John Skehan, Kickham Street (lst Anniversary). The National Eucharistic Congress 2015 will take place at Knock Shrine on 26th and 27th September. It is hoped that the parish will be represented.
Rose’s Hair Studio will have a slight disruption in working hours for the next 4 to 5 weeks. Rose can be contacted on her mobile (number on salon window). She appreciates your continued patience and understanding and regrets any inconvenience caused.
Would the person who collected the key to the Community Centre from Wilsons, please return same as soon as possible.
The long promised works on the footpaths at Kickham Street are due to commence in the next week. This welcome news comes from Eddie O’Meara MCC.
Some water leaks in the area have been repaired, but lime in some of the local water supply is still a major problem.
Our senior hurlers face a huge task in the County championship in Cashel at 6pm on Sunday next when they play Thurles Sarsfields. While they will be outsiders and up against it, supporters are still looking forward to a determined display from all our lads. In Intermediate football, our South final opponents are still not known.
Clonmel Óg and Grangemockler drew their semi-final replay over the weekend and must meet again. Whoever comes through, they will be well prepared and sharpened to take on Mullinahone in the final. We have been warned.
