Last week we reported on Ms Kate O Connell and her pupils in Scoil Muire, Kilvemnon. Kat teaches 3rd to Sixth classes in Scoil Mhuire and is very accomplished in the field of IT. Innovative awards competition sponsored in by Microsoft. A favourable result was rumoured and for once rumour turned out to be fact as Kate won the European Section of the competition.

Congratulations to Kate to her pupils, to her school and to those who lent a helping hand.Kate and the children’s project on (Eaviation’ now goes forward to the world final of the competition.

This will take place in Thailand and competing in it is a wonderful achievement for the pupils of Scoil Muire and their teachers, especially Ms O Connor. It is a long way from the foot of Slievenamon to such places of Thailand. Many local people remember Thailand for the tsunami which struck on St Stephens’s day a number of years ago. Perhaps after Kate visits Thailand we’ll have more pleasant memories of that part of the world. We wish her well in the ultimate competition.
