Credit Union

Preparations for the link-up of Mullinahone Credit Union and Clonmel Credit Union have been progressing. The Regulatory authority has given its blessing to the proposed merger. From the date of the merger, better credit union services will be available in Mullinahone. The same services will be available to Mullinahone people in all three offices i.e Mullinahone, Fethard and Clonmel. This will take place when the computers in each Credit Union are linked up. Members will be informed of progress.

Local Lotto Results

The last local lotto jackpot draw took place on Tuesday 2nd June. The numbers drawn were 7,13,14 and 20. There was no jackpot winner, but four shared the Match 3 prize of €160. Congrats to Eddie Hickey, Eleanor + Kerrie, Teresa Hickey and Eddie Ryan. Next draw will be on 15th June when the jackpot could be worth a record €12,550.

Coming and Going

There were plenty of comings and goings from the parish over the weekend. On Friday 5th June, the junior pupils from Mullinahone N.S. had their school tour to the Watershed in Kilkenny. A most enjoyable day was had by all. On Sunday, it was the turn of our local schoolboys soccer squad to visit the Aviva for the Ireland v England soccer match. Again a great day, but a pity the lads didn’t see a goal. On Tuesday 30th June, our U12 footballers will travel to Croke Park to play a number of games. Plenty of travel for all.

Thank You

Eric Holland would like to thank everybody far and near who sponsored him in the Danemma run 2015 for Our Ladies Hospital, Crumlin. Thank you one and all.

John Vaughan R.I.P

The death took place at his home in Grove on Saturday last of one of Mullinahone’s great characters, John Vaughan. John had been unwell for some time. On his return from Wales in the late 1960’s John became involved with C.J. Kickhams GAA Club and also with Mullinahone Community Council. John called bingo numbers in the Community Centre on Wednesday nights for many years. He was one of those who caused the Community Field to be purchased by the GAA.

He represented the GAA at County Board level for many years. John became legendary for his video commentaries as Mullinahone rose in the GAA world. He was also a great supporter of Scór. May John Vaughan rest in peace as “Ni fheicimid a leithéid ann arís.” Condolences to his wife, Kathleen, to his sons and daughters and to the extended family. John was interred in Mullinahone Churchyard beside St.Michaels Church.

A notice in this week’s parish newsletter states "shop local and keep our local shops alive - keep our post office busy and it will stay.
